The Airspace Is Changing, And So Are We

June 7, 2025

U.S. Drone Bill Changes

On June 6, the White House issued a major executive order that shifts the direction of drone policy in the U.S.

It’s about more than just compliance. This move is about security, transparency, and raising the bar across the board. For drone pilots who’ve been cutting corners, it’s a wake-up call. For those of us already flying above board, it’s confirmation we’re on the right track.

At Suave Droning, we didn’t need to scramble when this order came out, because we’ve already been operating like this every day.

We’re:

  • FAA Part 107 licensed
  • TWIC cleared for secure facility access
  • WBENC certified (woman-owned small business)
  • Remote ID compliant
  • OSHA 10 and 30 certified
  • Fully insured

Compliance isn’t just something we say; it’s built into how we fly and how we show up.

What the Executive Orders Actually Do

Here’s a quick breakdown of what the June 6 executive actions are about:

  • Accelerate FAA BVLOS rules
The FAA is being pushed to move faster on letting drones fly beyond visual line of sight without a spotter. This opens the door for longer-range missions like utility inspections, emergency mapping, and more.

  • Launch eVTOL pilot programs
The federal government wants to test and support advanced aircraft that take off and land vertically, especially for cargo and medevac use. Think of it as the next layer of airspace planning.

  • Support U.S. drone manufacturing
Agencies are being encouraged to prioritize drones made in the U.S. and help domestic companies get more competitive abroad.

  • Reduce reliance on foreign drones
This is not a full ban, but it’s a clear message. If you want to work with federal agencies or handle sensitive infrastructure, your drone choice will start to matter.

  • Increase funding for drone detection and airspace defense
The government is building out more tools to detect, identify, and respond to drones in sensitive or restricted areas.

These moves are about modernizing the way we use drones and how we protect the airspace.

What It Means for Drone Operators

There are really two kinds of operators right now. Either you’re fully compliant, licensed, and traceable, or you’re not.

If you’re still flying casually or commercially without proper training, insurance, or Remote ID, things are about to get harder. Just because it's worked well in the past, or it helps save a bit of money short-term, the legal and monetary consequences are going to catch up. But if you’re like us, already flying professionally and transparently, then this policy shift is a green light.

We’ve been flying this way since day one.

We Fly DJI Enterprise and Use It to Its Fullest

Our main aircraft is the DJI Mavic 3T. It’s not a toy, rather, it’s part of DJI’s enterprise line, designed for serious operations.

It includes:

  • AirSense to detect crewed aircraft in the area
  • AES-256 encrypted video transmission
  • Full telemetry logging and Remote ID

But the gear alone isn’t what makes us different.

We go deeper. After every flight, we log the data, extract what matters, and deliver inspection-grade results. Whether it’s thermal analysis or zoomed visuals, we break it down into usable information.

A lot of drone pilots capture footage and move on. It's our goal to turn it into something clients can actually use.

We Know More Than One Platform

Our main setup is the 3T, but we’ve worked with plenty of other commercial systems too:

  • Mavic 3E for mapping and wide coverage
  • Matrice platforms for larger payloads
  • LiDAR scanners for structural mapping and terrain models
  • Thermal plus zoom payloads for inspections and facility sweeps

We’re not locked into a single setup. We know how to fly what the job needs, and we know how to process the data after.

A U.S.-Built Drone Is Coming to Our Fleet

We’re currently preparing to add a U.S.-manufactured drone to our lineup.

It's important to emphasize that this isn’t because of pressure. It’s strategic. As more contracts, especially for government and infrastructure, shift toward U.S.-made equipment, we’re getting ahead of it.

We already meet the compliance standards. This addition just expands who we can work with and how.

Why This Matters for Clients

When you work with us, you’re getting more than just “a drone service.”

You’re getting:

  • Full compliance and insurance (lower liability for you)
  • Remote ID tracking and audit trails
  • Proven experience with secure data and sensitive sites
  • Inspection deliverables, not just footage
  • A team that understands policy, regulation, and real-world requirements
  • A full in-house processing experience with no third party handoffs

We cover New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania with specialties in pest control, flood and stormwater systems, property inspections, and facility documentation.

Not Just Flying. Leading.

We didn’t build Suave Droning to be a part-time hustle or a shortcut shop. It's said a lot throughout our website and what we post, but it's never a bad time to reiterate that we genuinely care how we fly and what we deliver.

If you’re a facility manager, safety officer, or infrastructure lead looking for a drone partner who takes the job seriously, please reach out.

The airspace is changing, and we’re not just adjusting to it. We’re ready.
